'Extension of Mercy'

St. Denis and Companions; St. John Leonardi

I have reason to be angry.

- Jonah 4:9

There is nothing quite like a toddler in the middle of a temper tantrum. It's not a pretty sight. That cute face turns red with rage, screams pierce the air (and eardrums), and those angry limbs kick up a storm. You can bet it all starts when that little one wants something and doesn't get it. Of course, as adults, we know better than to throw tantrums when we don't get our way--or do we?

Jonah counted on the Lord to punish the people of Ninevah. When that didn't happen, Jonah had a meltdown. We all do at times, don't we? We sulk, we lash out, we even look for other ways to get what we want. Jonah was no exception. But that anger of his blinded him as it often blinds us. Jonah failed to see that God's loving mercy for others also extended to him.

Help us, Lord, to see with a wide-angle lens.

Angry with God? Yes several times in my life, glad he has very broad shoulders. In 2003 we were fixing our house from a tornado hit, had my Father-In-Law in hospital with pneumonia, then he has 2 heart attacks. He went for bypass surgery at the age of 81. I was angry and I yelled at God, glad he is merciful. Now I understand better why and I had no reason to get angry. But at the time the weight of the world was on our shoulders. But God knows best and he took care of us just as we needed it.

Help us Lord to see with eyes of faith, trust in Him and love! Amen!

Lord Jesus prayers for our Living Faith Family. Ken, may you feel his compassion this weekend during the most difficult time. May extra prayers for your family be heard as well. Know that we all are here praying for you and Kathy.

May we continue to show our compassion towards others, even when we as adults do not get our ways. May we be bigger than any conflict in our lives.

Dear Jesus hear my continued cry for comfort with my current issues, that I may overcome the worry and anxiety that keeps creeping into my mind over these issues.

May I spend quality time with you today. I will always put you first in my life.
