'Love Is Real'

St. Maximilian Kolbe

I will remember the covenant I made with you when you were a girl...

- Ezekiel 16:60

If we were to have a tendency to spiritualize our faith, disconnecting from physical reality, today's readings and memorial are a fine antidote. Ezekiel likens God's love for his chosen people to a lover remembering the charms of the girl with whom he fell in love. God delights in his physical creation, as though dancing in it. Faith and science point us in the same direction. As scientists delve inward into the interior of matter, and outward to the stars, they keep discovering movement at the heart of reality.

Martyr St. Maximilian also reminds us that real love takes flesh. Face to face with physical and emotional brutality at Auschwitz concentration camp, he gave his life to save a fellow human. Not "My thoughts are with you, my friend," but, "All I am I give for love of God and neighbor, in defiance of the lie that evil has triumphed."

Does my life make love real for others?

- Mary Marrocco

"Receive the word of God, not as the word of men,
but, as it truly is, the word of God." My mom had just yesterday said these exact words to me. I am going through along battle of divorce even though I have been divorced over 5 years. And through it all my biological mother has continually provided financial support to me. She has never displayed anger toward me when I have requested financial help. Yesterday I became upset with my son because he is going through depression and panic attacks because Covid and he is afraid of death. Then I remembered that my 93 year old mother has never shown anger toward me with all my financial request of her. I felt very bad and asked my son for forgiveness and he responded "I always and will forgive you Dad."

Mary, thank you for your thought provoking devotion. I'll be reflecting on "Does my life make love real for others?" also.

In today's Scripture Reading, the Lord God says:
"Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you when you were a girl, and I will set up an everlasting covenant with you, that you may remember and be covered with confusion,
and that you may be utterly silenced for shame when I pardon you for all you have done, says the Lord GOD."

God promised to protect us, to forgive us and to love us unconditionally if we kept His law (Commandments) and were faithful to Him. He has also asked us to forgive one anther, to be kind and humble toward one another and to love one another as He loves us.

Lord, thank you for forgiving me for all my sins and all that I have done to often You and others with my words, actions and thoughts. Amen.

God Bless our living Faith Family and continued prayers for all.

Mary thank you for you beautiful words this morning. "Does my life make love real for others?" Very challenging question. I will be pondering that for awhile.

"To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarrel ing, to be gentle and to show perfect courtesy toward all people." Titus 3:1-2
I know that each of of us brings a different viewpoint to LFF. Yet we all having something to learn from each other. If we don't agree let's take it to our Lord.

Del/tom I will be praying for your sons. I pray the Lord return each of them to wholeness and well being. I pray they begin to feel well again very quickly. They are blessed to have a praying mother like you.

Dear St. Maximillian, at your young age you came into God’s favor, by our Mother Mary visiting you personally.

Even at a young age, you heard your calling for the rest of your life and you continued to bless Mary Mother of God, with your continued service in teaching others of her intercession in our lives.

You paid the ultimate price for the Love of your brother, so they may live.

Please pray for us that we too may be more compassionate toward others, helping others in need.

Please extend our prayers and requests to our Blessed Mother Mary and ask her constantly for her intercession of our prayers on our behalf with her son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Continued prayers for our Living Faith Family.

Amen

I agree with Maggie. If someone reading it cannot deal with the comments, take it back to God and ask why. And always show respect for different points of view. Be an ambassador for love, the world sure needs it.
