'Speaking in Truth'

St. Alphonsus Liguori

It was the LORD who sent me to prophesy...

- Jeremiah 26::::::12

I remember, when I was a teenager, how my mother, without really warning me, let me know that the plans I had made with friends might not be a good idea. She was a bit of a prophet--like Jeremiah--one who spoke for God.

As Jeremiah did not fear reprisal from the people, neither did my mother from me. She was, in a word, my "mother," not my friend. Her goal was to let me know that choices have consequences. Like those who listened to Jeremiah and told the king, "This man does not deserve the sentence of death," I, too, got the idea that she was speaking on behalf of my best interests.

Her words did not deserve my disdain, rather my gratitude. For in her wisdom, she spoke God's truth.

Gracious God, how often you use people or events to speak to me of what you would have me do. May I learn not only to listen, but to speak your word to others.

- Judy Schueneman

Thank you, Judy, for the example you gave us regarding your life with your mother but you also deserve credit for you listened to your mother's words as, "Her (your mother's) words did not deserve my disdain, rather my gratitude. For in her wisdom, she spoke God's truth."

May we also provide wisdom to each other as we speak God's truth through our comments on this website.

Good Saturday Morning Living Faith Family.

I like this line above Judy, that our choices have consequences. Thank you for your reflection today.

I just got done letting my 26 year old son know those very words yesterday. Not to threaten him, but as a Dad a great reminder.

Today’s first reading starts out terrible for Jeremiah, but his steadfast love and loyalty to God saves him from his enemies.

We too have this same great opportunity to love and serve God and he is always there are the perfect time we need him, why because if he lives in our hearts, he never leaves us.

In today’s Gospel, we see the that there was some terrible people in the world, John The Baptist never did anything wrong to hurt anyone. He helped so many to see the light of Christ and to follow in his footsteps, why then this tragic ending. Because there is evil in the world. Beware of the evil is very powerful, so we must stay in the light as evil lives in darkness.

Remember our choices do in fact have consequences.

Choose the light.

Praying for each and every one of you today.

Enjoy the light!

Amen

What a great prayer, Judy! Prompts me to pray as you do, "Gracious God, how often do You use people (that won't listen to what I have to say about this faith You give me) and events (like 911, natural disasters and now COVIN-19) to speak to me of Who is my Hope and my Salvation! May I learn to not only to listen, but to speak Your Word to others, Amen!"

Continue on from yesterday's theme of rejections...here are examples what rejections in God's economy look like in today's readings:
* Jeeremiah 26:11, "The priests and prophets said to the princes and to all the people, “This man deserves death; he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.”
* Psalm 69:15-17a, "Rescue me out of the mire; may I not sink! may I be rescued from my foes, and from the watery depths. Let not the flood-waters overwhelm me, nor the abyss swallow me up, nor the pit close its mouth over me. Lord, in Your great love, answer me."
* Matthew 5:10, "Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness
for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven." Matthew 14:3-4, 10, "Now Herod had arrested John (the Baptist), bound him, and put him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, for John had said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”...he had John beheaded in the prison."

Rejections in the Name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to me is part of my faith! They will come...not if but when! When the rejections do come I won't be devastated or discouraged or hopeless because the rejections are not of me, but of my faith, God Himself!!! And He is God enough to handle them Himself :-) He doesn't need my help to defend Him...

I vote for those God has appointed to protect my freedom of religion and the unborn!!! And if they don't get elected, this country deserves every bad thing that is coming to us: COVIN-19 all year round with choosing between taking the vaccine with side effects or no vaccine.

Mark 4:39-40, "When Jesus woke up, He rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then He asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Is Jesus in your boat? Sleeping?

As someone has posted, "No God, no grace; Know God, know grace!"

"But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve....But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15a, c)

GRACE - God's Redemption at Christ Expense! We don't deserve it! We will see if we choose to receive it as a nation in November?

Salina, with all your intelligence bible knowledge why do you continue to use world leaders as what God want's. Have you received a message to destroy this website and fill it with a negative example as: "And if they don't get elected, this country deserves every bad thing that is coming to us:"
