Truthiness - the quality of seeming or being felt to be true, even if not
necessarily true.
These are not in the Bible:
* God helps those who help themselves!
* Cleanliness is next to holiness!
* Money is the root of all evil!
* This too shall pass!
* Spare the rod, spoil the child!
* God wants you to be happy!
* Just follow your heart and believe, and you can do anything!
It isn't about conflicts with family and others! Jesus pointed out if
anything or anyone I love more, then I have a problem in loving Jesus! It
is about the conflicts I have with Jesus if I love someone else or
something else more :-(
That is why Jesus told us the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:36-40,
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the
second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"
I have to love God in order to know how to love others. These second is
dependent on the first one! I know friends who love their family and
friends dearly, but they don't love God. They love out of feelings,
obligations, their own upbringing and being known to be nice. I know for
I was like that......
It is so much easier to love my children and give them everything they
want! But that is not how You love me, is it Lord? You love me and died
for me while I was still a sinner! You don't answer my prayers just
because I want you to! You answer my prayer according to Your plan of
long ago and the way you have the best for me! Your patience, Your
long-suffering, Your grace, Your mercy and Your faithfulness are
overwhelming! Teach me to love You so I can love others the way You love
me. Amen!
Amen. Thank you Holy Father for this day and for today's Gospel.
Thank you Lord for my faith, my life and for my family. Thank you Holy
Father most of all for your great sacrifice and for the opportunity of
forgiveness and reconciliation. Please Lord have mercy. Praise to you
Lord Jesus Christ now and forever. Amen
Lord, help us to trust and believe that our prayers for the courage
to be truthful to ourselves and others, and our prayers for the courage
to accept the truth from others, will be sufficient to fortify us for the
journey of change which will come.
The Sword of Truth, I had a spiritual director explain it in terms
that gave me a realization of its power to break up the illusions our
minds and emotions create. I will relate it to you in hopes that it will
help. Our minds build false concepts and illusions that we relate to at
times, when these are hurtful or cause fear or anxiety they can build a
sort of knot that blocks the free flow of grace. the sword of truth is
the rational understanding that these concepts are only concepts not from
God. so the sword cuts through the knot freeing the mind and heart so we
may allow His grace to flow freely through us. Just my humbled
opinion.
Peace be with you all!
The truth that Christ seeks in this provocative statement is simply
that one should not place dependency on the family relationship but
rather on Christ at the center and relate to life through our
relationship with Him.
Lord, let us please have the courage to face the truth, let Thy
will be done, Amen
Thank you Gail for a wonderful devotion and Paul I second your
comment. Exactly what I needed to read as I head into probable
conflict in an attempt to present all the facts, deal with the issues
(whatever the facts prove them to be)and move forward for the good of
all. ‘the truth will set you free’ John 8:32 Pat
Amen. My prayer also, Paul.
Thank you for the prayer, Paul! I wish all the devotions had a
closing prayer!
