'Always Present'

The First Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church

As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him.

- Matthew 8:23

As a child, I spent many happy summers by the ocean, where I learned to read its changeable moods and to have a deep respect for the power of the waves. As fishermen, the disciples would also have been skilled at reading the winds and the temperament of the waters. Therefore, they would probably not have ventured out if a storm were imminent. But storm it did, suddenly and violently, as waves swamped the boat! We can easily understand the disciples' terror, even though Jesus was visible beside them.

Like the disciples, we, too, wish to follow Jesus. Like them, we, also, are challenged to remember that, no matter how turbulent and frightening the storms of our lives may be, no matter that Jesus may appear asleep or unresponsive, he remains present beside us, active and caring at every moment of our lives.

- Sr. Chris Koellhoffer, I.H.M.

Sr. Chris, thank you for your wonderful words.

“Lord, save us! We are perishing!” He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?” "Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm."

Sometimes when I'm feeling distressed and Let fear overcome me, I can't seem to hear and feel Jesus. I forget that He is always there at my side, waiting for me to ask Him for His helping hand. Through perseverance and prayer, my Lord, Jesus always pulls through for me. He is my strength and my courage, and has been my Savior all my life.

God Bless our Living Faith Family.

Beautifully said Tillie; and I remembered that St.Paul said that when we are going through sufferings and trials we are to remember that all disciples are also going through trials of their own.

Tillie, what beautiful words, full of a lot of meaning and truth. If I could only remember when the storms hit my life as well.

Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful words!

As I was going through the first reading, a sadness came over me :-( It reminds me of how I used to pray for God to do this or that, to give me this or that, to heal this or that...and yet I never really treated Him as my God, more like a very special Genie who answers and serves my every needs and wants :-( Our roles were reversed as many of us do these days...

It brings me to prayer...which has different meanings to different people in different seasons!
* To some, it is a request/plead!
* To others, it is worship/love!
* To me, it is all that and my connection, my fellowship, my dates with my One and Only :-)

These came to my mind regarding prayer:
* Wrong motives in James 4:2-3, "You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."
* Wrong person in 1 Timothy 2:5, 'For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,"
* Wrong words in Isaiah 55:11, "so shall My Word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but It shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."

So now I pray
* With the motives from knowing the heart of God!
* To only the person of Jesus Christ!
* Using His Word in Scripture!

I love You, Lord Jesus!!!
* Even when my body is tired and broken, my heart is full and grateful :-)
* Thank You for putting up with me and not giving up on me becasue You can't and You won't as my God!
* I know You love evey moment of it no matter how painful even when I was in rebellion because You know me and love me as my God!

Praise You Lord, Jesus Christ, Who reigns forever and ever! Amen!

You are so very special to all of us here in LFFamily, Tim!!!
* The sharing of the Holy Spirit in your lessons of the daily readings :-)
* Your hardship at work you have been going through for quite sometime now, and yet you are encouraging, prayful and thisty for more of God!!! You are contagious to us at LFFamily :-) No social distancing here :-) I can see your breath (of God) in a cold winter night!
* As for any new addition to the LFFamily, they wouldn't even know the perseverance, patience and humility you have been practicing at work! (You probably wish you can permenantly social distancing these difficult people you work with :-)

May God bless you in your travel and His favor of success in your visit with your client in NC :-) Amen!
