'From Messes to Compassion'

Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.
He pardons all your iniquities,
he heals all your ills.
He redeems your life from destruction,
he crowns you with kindness and compassion.

- Psalm 103:2-4

If you have ever been through a difficult season of trial and testing and made it through to the other side, this verse will likely warm your heart the way it does mine. In fact, it brings me to tears.

Not tears of sadness or of loss. Not anymore. Today, these words bring tears of overwhelming gratitude.

You have to have been ill to understand what it is to be healed. You have to experience the pain of your own sin to know the incredible blessing of pardon. You have to have been in a pit to know what it means to be redeemed. To make a mess of your life and still be crowned with mercy and compassion? That is beyond understanding. That is God. This is how he loves us.

Praise him!

- Kristin Armstrong

Perfectly worded reflection from one who can look back and say thank you Lord for journeying with me through my night of the dark soul. I can thankfully say look back, I stuttered and stumbled but with His support kept on going and made it through. I personally hope I never have a repeat journey, but from my experience and absolute conviction I encourage those the lord puts in my path with my testimony. My misery became my ministry, He gave my life meaning and purpose. Today I thank God every morning for another day to do his will.

Sorry dark night of the soul, but then again the freudian slip might also be appropriate

Indeed, Kristin! Overwhelming gratitude with praises and redeeming attitude to tell others! I am redeemed by His sacrificial and unconditional love: Jesus died for me while I was a sinner!!!

* Romans 5:3-5, "We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love."

* 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

* 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, "For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever."

What are you going through feeling alone and overwhelmed right now? Here is God's promise in Isaiah 43:1b-3a, "“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God!"

Amen!

Seek him always in the good and bad.

This Fathers Day we can seek and give him praise in the good and bad. Our actions will make our Heavenly Father feel so very blessed and proud of us.

Do not be afraid to come to him with all of these trials in our lives, he has so much unconditional love for us it is overflowing.

Spend some quality quiet time with him today, transform your life and always put him first.

Seek him.

Amen
