'Plain Speaking'

I have told you this in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures but I will tell you clearly about the Father.

- John 16:25-26

From the beginning of his ministry, Jesus used parables in his preaching. They were simple stories to impart moral truths, to teach the faith and to bring people closer to God. Using stories and metaphors worked well with an audience that was mostly illiterate.

But now, Jesus tells his disciples that the time is coming when he will speak, "clearly about the Father." He will take a more direct method of preaching the Good News. He will tell them he is the Son of God. That he has been sent to suffer and die for their sins. With his death and resurrection, we will be given the gift of eternal life. He will remind us of our commitment to the poor, that our sins will be forgiven, that we can ask for God's help through prayer and that God will always listen. He will promise us a home with him and the Father in heaven. He will tell us that God is love and his love is never-ending.

Dear LFF, thank you all for praying for my sister, Carol who waited in the hospital from 1 pm till 5 pm before the OR was available for her scheduled surgery. Imagine the patience! The actual surgery took 3 hours, 2 days in ICU and finally upgraded into her own room. When she called me late last night, they had her up & walking, to prevent blood clots.
We are all so very grateful for the professional care our doctors & nurses & anesthetists are giving all of us plus simultaneously taking care of Covid19 patients!
We are truly blessed; praise the Lord, for He is good, His mercy endours forever!!

Jesus, is telling us again that he is leaving and the promise of the Holy Spirit will be with us.

We will be assisted in our strength, joy and belief by the grace and power of the Holy Spirt.

Jesus will be with us always through the Holy Spirit. We must remember that the Holy Spirit, is the third blessed part of the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

As in the first reading today, Apollo gain strength to speak, spread the word of God through and with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Let us all today, gain excitement for tomorrow, as Jesus goes to the Father and soon after he will send us all the gift of the Holy Spirit.

WOW, exciting times ahead!

God bless you all and prayers always to our Living Faith Family and a special prayer for all of the front line workers.

Dell/Tom so happy to hear that everything went well. Continued prayers for you all.

Once again I would like to ask the face Community to keep my 97 year old dad in your prayers today. He is once again getting a procedure, this time and Iron Infusion. The blood transfusion that he had two weeks ago really helped him a lot. He's had increased energy is able to sit up a lot longer and has been eating very well. They're hoping this additional treatment will keep him stable at least for the several if not more months to come. God bless you all!

The disciples asked Jesus why He used parables in Matthew 13:10, "The disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”"

Here is what He said in Matthew 13:11-12, "He replied, “
* Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.
* Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance.
* Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them."

How does it happen? Matthew 13:13b, 14b, 15b, "
* Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
* You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
* they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes."

Why does it happen? Matthew 13:13a, 14a, 15a, "
* This is why I speak to them in parables:
* In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
* For this people’s heart has become calloused;"

I also want to remind you that the disciples didn't understand Jesus' parables and Jesus had to explain to them what they meant in Matthew 13:18-23.......so does it mean their hearts were calloused too? Well.......

From what I understand and experience, no one can understand the parables or God's Word because ALL of our hearts are calloused!!! Yes, ALL of our hearts are calloused! It is hereditary all the way from Adam and Eve :-(

You see, the disciples need Jesus to explain to them back then and we need the Holy Spirit to explain to us today :-) Without them, God, no one can hear or see or understand, period! Reading the Bible will just be reading any literature book :-(

Hearing, seeing and understanding is solely the work of the Holy Spirit, no one can claim credit for it! Just look at all the secular professors teaching religions in colleges :-(

* If any one of you is having a hard time understanding the Bible in hearing and seeing, ask the Holy Spirit to help you. And He will and does :-)
* Some people have the indwelling Holy Spirit and other don't!
* Difference: Belief in Jesus Christ, Son of God, Who came and died on the cross for my sins, was raised from the dead and now seated at the right hand of the Father interceeding for me :-)

The only plain speaking I get is with, through and in the Holy Spirit!!!

* John 14:16-17a, "And I (Jesus) will ask the Father, and He will give you another (because Jesus was going back to the Fahter) advocate (Holy Spirit) to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth."
* John 14:26, "the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I (Jesus) have said to you."
* John 16:13-14, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you whHe will make known to you."

So, are you ready to receive the Holy Spirit so you can see and hear and understand?
* John 3:6-7, "Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’"
* Romans 8:5-6, "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace."
* Romans 8:14-15, "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when He adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, “Abba, Father.”

Praise God!
Praise God in the Highest Heavens!

On that day you will ask in my name,
and I do not tell you that I will ask the Father for you.

Due to Christ's sacrifice, we have direct line of communication (and direct relationship) with God, the father. Don't forget that!

Let us always help the poor in whatever ways we can.
kt | Posted on: 2020-05-23 06:37:51
Remembering the poor and marginalized amongst us. Those we brand sometimes as lesser people than ourselves. We are reminded that we have a commitment to them. May we see them through eyes of love and may our hearts become vessels of love and compassion towards them. Amen.
Prayers and blessings for our Living Faith family. We are all connected to God through Jesus The Christ.
