DAILY DEVOTIONS:

'The Deep Landscape'

St. Athanasius

The one who comes from above is above all. The one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things. But the one who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies to what he has seen and heard...

- John 3:31-32

I own a home with a decent-sized yard surrounded on three sides by fairly dense vegetation. I realized the other day that I never, ever go back there. Is that odd? That I live here, that I call it mine, but I am a stranger to part of it?

Today is the feast of St. Athanasius, who dug deep into theological matters and mysteries. It is certainly not my gift. It's not an area of life that I'm very familiar with. But I'm grateful for those, like St. Athanasius, who spend time in that landscape of deep questions where I rarely venture, to explore the mysteries of the one who came from above. They help me to hear and understand his voice when he speaks.

Son of God, I listen attentively to your voice.

Amy thank you for your devotion.

"The Deep Landscape".

A beautiful analogy of the wonderful mysteries of God, His son Jesus, and the Magnificent Universe He created.

Lord, continue to dray me to you and to be in your presence. Open my mind to your truth and the mysteries of your creations. Let me testify to your truth. Amen.

God Bless Everyone!

Prayers for our Living Faith Family on this National Day of Prayer. Also, prayers of gratitude for my grandson Zachary, who had great results from his follow up MRI yesterday. Improvement again! He has completed (and graduated) from his Physical Therapy, is in school full time now, and doing very well in grade 4. Praise God for being with him since his successful surgery for the removal of a brain tumor last September! Thankful for the prayers of our LF Family.
Amen!!

4. ASK GOD FOR THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER ON THURSDAY, MAY 2, TO BECOME A CATALYTIC SPIRITUAL MOVEMENT ACROSS AMERICA

No one from earth can understand heavenly things because "the one who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of earthly things." So how could Peter and the Apostles understood God and speak heavenly things then?

* Acts 5:32, "We are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."

I understand God and things from above ONLY through the Holy Spirit!!! It is not me who speaks, but the Holy Spirit Who speaks through me (i.e. when I don't ignore/evict/quiet the indwelling Holy Spirit given to me when I first believed)

Here are the steps laid out in John 3:33-34, "
* does accept His (Jesus) testimony
* certifies that God is trustworthy
* speaks the Words of God
* does not ration His gift of the Spirit"

John 3:36a, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life," reminds me of each week we share one Biblical truth with the students at BSF by asking one question. This week the question is "What is eternal life?"

The answer is "Eternal life is God's gift that comes from believing, knowing and loving God and Jesus Christ. (John 17:2-3) Eternal life begins as soon as we become God's child and never ends. (Luke 23:43) Our bodies die but we are alive with Christ and forever freed from all sin. (Matthew 25:46) God's children enjoy His presence now, in heaven and in Christ's kingdom forever. (Revelation 11:15)"

I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall be ever in my mouth. Taste and see how good the LORD is; blessed is I who take refuge in Him. Amen! (Psalm 34:2, 9)
