'Being Open to Joy'

Third Sunday of Easter

Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself.

- Luke 24:38-39

The garage doors had been inoperable for months, mostly because I was convinced it would be an expensive repair. A handyman, here on another job, snapped a part into place, pushed a button--done.

I was both joyful and shamed because of the easy fix. I was elated at the simplicity and zero cost, but a little embarrassed that I'd not understood that the situation wasn't really that complicated after all.

I think about the distance between my own weakness and God's promises. It seems like a pretty big space. But during the Easter season, I'm reminded that bridging the gap might not be as fraught with problems as I'm tempted to imagine. I hear Jesus' words, and yes, I'm a little abashed about what I've been blind to, what I've resisted. But more importantly, I'm filled with joy, assured of his presence.

Risen Lord, in you I find peace.

Thank you for the wonderful analogy from daily living experiences. Really makes the Word come alive for me.

Thank you for the welcome back Mg. Funny how things have not changed much all of these years, some 2,000 years ago.

Why are we troubled, because of the unknown is probably the answer.

I always tell others, have faith, let go and let God. Sometimes I need to be my own student and listen to my own advise, easier said than done.

We are only like this because we are human but know that all troubles are better with God in our lives and prayers than not.

Ask God for help and he will help us through our troubles, we are not alone with God.

His word, the Bible is a great place to start. Reflect on weekly readings in the Bible and walk closer with him.

God Bless

Amen. I was at mass last night and became so overcome with the feeling of God’s presence. Lord help me to have that experience in everything I do because I know you are with me.

Be not afraid. Amen.

Amy, what a good analogy - one that I think we can all relate to! How often I don't fully trust that Christ is right here with me to make all a lot easier than I think. Thanks for this and your many other great insights!
