'Just a Question?'

Lenten Weekday

When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been ill for a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be well?"

- John 5:6

It's as if Jesus is asking the man near the pool, "What are you waiting for? Do you want to be well or not?" The infirm man knows he needs healing and desires to be well. Despite the law that forbids work on the Sabbath, he listens to Jesus' command, picks up his mat and, carrying it with him, walks away.

I often get the feeling that Jesus asks me the same thing. What am I waiting for? What holds me down? Where do I look for help? What needs to change that I may be free? Okay, yes, I need to change, but knowing the answer doesn't make changing easier.

Let us hear the question differently. Perhaps Jesus is asking us, "Do you trust me? What are you waiting for?"

Help us, Lord, to trust you more, that we may allow your spirit to stir our hearts into action.

Lord, please bring blessings to my husband who is suffering now and again from pain from a hernia. Give him strength to endurance he needs today. Help him dear Lord, I pray in your Holy name Jesus Christ and please bless all my LF families who are again going through another winter storm. Keep them safe and warm. Amen

Amen! Thank you Holy Father for this day and for today's Gospel. Thank you Lord for my faith, my life and for my family. Thank you Holy Father most of all for your great sacrifice and for the opportunity of forgiveness and reconciliation. Please Lord have mercy, please have mercy. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ, King of Endless Glory. Amen
Please Lord watch over and protect my son and his workers as they work in this winter storm today. Please keep them strong and protected throughout the day, let no harm come to them and let them do no harm. I ask this in my Lord Jesus Christ name. Amen
